"Silver Bullets" / Sensitivity settings
« on: September 13, 2021, 12:15:00 AM »
This setting allows you to change the minimum allowed size  for a Plagiarized section, in characters.

Helps when you want to avoid short detections that you consider false-positive results.

"Silver Bullets" / UACE - UniCode Anti Cheating Engine
« on: September 13, 2021, 12:03:49 AM »
UniCode Anti Cheating Engine is aimed at detecting/prevent cheating with homoglyphs. Different alphabets have similarly-looking characters, that are sometimes used to avoid Plagiarism detection. For example: Latin "a" looks similar to Cyrillic "а", but a program considers these different letters.

UACE detects the use of symbols, that are not expected for a given language and will attempt normalizing them to enable the check.

"Warn if % is above" allows you to change the warning  threshold. Warning is present both in reports and in the list of reports in Advanced Reports Viewer.
"Normalize if is above" - changes the normalization threshold. If the % of such symbols is above, the program will replace "foreign" symbols with homoglyphs from the expected alphabet.

Example of a valid case, when it is actually expected to have "foreign" symbols in a document, is when citing books or papers in other languages.

UACE section is a report includes status for the feature (was in on or off), detection percentage before and after  normalization, automatically generated assessment recommendation and  allows to view the full list of all characters present in the document with unicode descriptions.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions / OR section: Included URLs list
« on: June 02, 2020, 02:00:25 PM »
At the last page of the Step-By-Step Wizard you can open the second tab, which is Exclusion/Inclusion lists. It allows you to edit two different list, giving specific details for the search engine.

Include list: any URL in the list is thoroughly checked against during the search.
If you expect the page to be a source of part of the checked document, but the software does not find it, you can add the page to this list, to make sure it is checked in detail. The fact that the document is not detected without it can be explained by the SEP-stage fast check, finding candidates for a REP detailed comparison, is not so specific and detailed, but relies on the quantities of sites checked.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions / OR Section: Extracted Urls
« on: June 02, 2020, 01:56:46 PM »
This section of a report includes URLs found in a document under consideration.
This feature is only active, when the URL-references are enabled on the last screen of the Step-By-Step Wizard.

Any text found similar between the document in question and pages behind these URLs will be considered Referenced.

"Silver Bullets" / Resource fails to Load
« on: November 18, 2017, 06:12:19 PM »
If you landed here it means one of the Resources requested by was not downloaded Ok.

There can be lots of reasons why this happened.
Most frequently they fall into:

1. Resource is down (try to open the same URL in a different Browser).

You can do the following:
- Jsut wait for the resource to be up.

2. PD fails to download the exact web page (some resources do not allow Internet Explorer core).

Usually marked as RDF = [Resource Download Failed] in Originality Reports.

RDF usually is followed by a detailed error description :: "Unable to connect to the remote server"

You can do the following:
1. Check if TLS 1.2/1.1 works OK in your Windows:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/3140245/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-a-default-secure-protocols-in
Update your system if needed.

+ see error codes: https://plagiarism-detector.com/smf_bb/index.php/topic,27.0.html

2. PD downloads the page Ok, but unable to extract Plaintext for the resource.
You can do the following:
Try to select a different resource parser engine in PDC and reload.
